Hey everyone…
Hope the nascent winter treats you well. Though we’ve been hibernating since tour ended, we’ve got alot to report. First and foremost, we recently signed with Merge Records! They’ll be releasing our next album in late summer ‘07 and we are very excited about working with such fine people. They don’t come nicer and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share a stable with the likes of Rob Pollard, Spoon, Richard Buckner, Arcade Fire and M. Ward, among a gillion other badasses. Big thanks to both Amish and Brah for treating us so good and having such awesome labels.
Speaking of Brah, Gypsum Strings is now available on vinyl. Click here to purchase directly from the Jagjagubrahs at Jagjaguwar. Just released this past week with beautiful artwork specifically done for the LP by the lovely and brilliant Maya Hayuk just in time for the luddite music lovers on your holiday list. There’s not alot of them, so don’t sleep…
In other news, we get a double shot of UNCUT mag’s love this month. First they named Second Guessing one of the best albums of the year in the November issue and then they included “Hiway” on a CD of new American psych in the December issue. And we thank them for their yank love. We noticed that Lindsey Buckingham is on their list too, so we’d like to take this opportunity to ask him outright: Lindsey, will you produce our next record? We love you. We love “Holiday Road”, “Go Insane”, Buckingham-Nicks, and Tusk. “Hold Me” is in heavy rotation on tour. We love it all. We have very little to offer in terms of money, but ever hear of indie cred? Doesn’t pay the bills, but it would add some color to the ol’ resume. Think on it and please contact us at oakleyhallnyc@yahoo.com.
Oh and be sure to pick up the year’s-end issue of Rolling Stone for an interview with us!
One more thing: Adam Davison (of Company fame) has released a killer record of covers of his friends’ tunes. He covers two of our older songs: Kid’s Song and Five-Sided Die. Check out the record here streaming online. Thanks Adam!
We’ll be nesting, writing and recording for the rest of the winter. Have great holidays. See you soon,
xxxxx
